| Background: This study was designed to estimate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its determinants, as well as baseline information about the related factors among the adult population. Method: A cross sectional study of 252 participants has been conducted in February 2017 at King Abdulaziz Hospital and Oncology Center. A structured questionnaire was administered, collecting information on personal medical history as well as socio-demographic and behavioral characteristics. Anthropometrics, blood pressure, and venous blood samples were obtained. Metabolic syndrome was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) criteria.
