Abstract | ||||
The study discusses the social variable of the solid waste problem in the urban growth communities, and that to be applied on the new 6th of October City. The aim of the study is to try to identify the social causes of the solid waste problem in the urban community, to detect the effects of social problems, and to diagnose the relationship between the solid waste problem and the social dimensions represented in the cultural status, educational level, occupation, socio-economic status, and place and type of residence. It also aims at deepening the environmental awareness and make recommendations to eliminate the causes and impacts of this problem in order to reduce the social problems of the environmental pollution caused by solid waste. The importance of this study is to deal with the less-prominent solid waste problem that is usually ignored by the social changes. Nevertheless, this problem has been addressed in the shadow of social theory. For the study, 15 families from different neighborhoods of 6 of October City, were selected as representatives of new urban communities, using the case study method that contributes in explaining the social construction of reality by representing some of the words and expressions of the study’s researchers. That would show the culture and content of the solid waste problem and its most important social dimensions, which makes it possible to help solve the problem through sociological reasoning and explanation and within the framework of the environmental sustainability. For that reason, the cultural, legal, and behavioral structure of the environment should be reactivated. The social dimensions play an important role in knowing and realizing the main areas of treating the problem of solid waste. Whereas activating the social participation including the government, civil society, and the private sector, and working on having fund for the environment can be key factors for facing the solid waste problem | ||||
