Abstract | ||
Two field experiments were conducted at the Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Menoufia University during two successive seasons 2016 and 2017 to evaluate the effect of different N2-fixing bacterial strains such as Azospirillium lipoferum, Azotobacter chroococcum and Bacillus polymyxa individually or in combination with urea fertilization rates (0.0, 50, 100 and 200 kg/fed/season). The data reveals that the treated plants with Azotobacter chroococcum gave the highest values of plant height and mean number of branches / plant and consequently heavier fresh weight of plant in addition, L- ascorbic acid content followed by Bacillus polymyxa in the three cuts in both growing seasons. In addition, the vegetative growth parameters as well as L-ascorbic acid gradually increased with increasing urea up to 100 kg/fed/season in the two experimental seasons. Furthermore, the application of Azotobacter chroococcum plus the moderate level of urea (100 kg/fed/season) gave the best values in terms of vegetative growth parameters as well as L-ascorbic acid in comparison with the other interaction treatments and the control in the two experimental seasons. | ||
