Abstract | ||||
Wheat crop considers one of the most important cereal crop food in Libya due to the adoption of the majority of consumers, it as an essential source of calories daily obtained by the consumer Libyan in the form of bread or other products, and increased demand due to high rates of population growth, on the one hand and policy support for supply commodities of the State on the other hand, as well as the studies of production and consumption of important studies as contribute the results of these studies in the development of plans and programs within the framework of macro-economic policy which aims to achieve the wishes of members of the community of goods and services in achieving self-sufficiency of the most important food commodities including wheat and achieve an appropriate level of food security of this important item, On the other hand, predict the behavior of producers and consumers and its impact on the quantities supplied and demanded of commodity wheat will help in determining the goals of economic and social development in the provision of Libyan goods and services to satisfy the needs of community members. The problem of the study is studying the ever-increasing and at high rates in the level of consumption of the commodity wheat due to a combination of factors affecting consumer spending, while not happen evolution in the level of domestic production of this item, commensurate with the increasing demand from them, which leads to an imbalance between supply and demand of this important food item, which leads to a food gap < br />estimated at 1433.56 thousand tons during the period (2006-2010). And is to bridge this gap by imports from abroad and then affect the balance of payments in general and the Libyan agricultural trade balance in particular. This research aims mainly to study the determinants of Libyan wheat consumer capacity and the factors responsible for their fluctuation. The study relied in achieving its goals on economic analysis in addition to the use of descriptive some statistical methods and mathematical models and which ones style simple regression and multiple regression method. The study found that the Libyan grain consumption during the period (1995-2010) is growing at an annual growth rate of about 1.8%. And that the per capita consumption of grain decreases with an average annual decrease of approximately 0.47%. Libyan daily consumption of grain growing in the same period, an annual growth rate of about 1.8%, and the import of Libyan grain is growing at an annual growth rate of about 1.8%. While showing that the Libyan consumption of wheat during the period (1995-2010) is growing at an annual growth rate of about 5.7%. The study showed that Libyan consumption of wheat and accurate importing increasing in the same period, an annual growth rate of about 1.1%, and that the per capita consumption of wheat is growing Libyan in the same period, an annual growth rate of about 3.3%. For the Libyan daily consumption of wheat, it is growing at an annual growth rate of about 5.5%. Libyan import of wheat is growing at an annual growth rate of about 73%.The study found that the gap of Libyan wheat is growing at an annual growth rate of about 1.2%. Factors responsible for fluctuations in capacity Libyan wheat consumer are the annual per capita income and per capita consumption of wheat Libyan. | ||||
