Abstract | ||||
The upholstered furniture is considered a main component in interior design, the harmony between the piece of upholstered furniture and the used fabric in it, one of the required basics to achieve the aesthetic values, where the modern age is characterized by the variety and successive development of the furniture styles, affecting the textile industry and the increasing efforts to produce many types of upholstery fabric to keep pace with the needs of furniture manufacturers. Here, the problem of the research appeared, after patterns and shapes of furniture increased significantly, the upholstery fabric designs available in markets does not match many pieces of furniture, prompting the furniture designer and the textile designer to think about how to exploit the modern technology to try to keep pace with the continuous changes. Therefore, the research aims to introduce Galvo laser technology and its role in addressing solving some design problems in furniture parts and measuring the effect of treatment with that technology on the aesthetic and functional characteristics for some upholstery fabric. A questionnaire study was lunched to measure the effect of using these technologies on the visual and aesthetic appearance of the pieces of furniture. As well the effect of applying Galvo laser engraving technology was measured on some functional characteristics (tensile strength and elongation, tear strength, abrasion resistance) for upholstery fabrics (chenille) produced in a double technique according to the different densities of chenille (12,8,6) in the measurement unit (24 weft /cm). | ||||
