The main objective of the study was to build an information repository that includes all the information of patients attending the Research Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO for use in the purposes of scientific research and decision-making support, For optimal guidance of the institute’s capabilities in setting the necessary programs to combat the most common eye diseases and directing research and medical projects to the community and groups most affected by the disease. Materials and Methods: The study relied on a comprehensive and detailed analysis method (Situation analysis) by combining observation, inquiry and personal interviews for direct access to information to build a system capable of addressing the problems and difficultie s facing the Institute. Results: The study reached to suggest, implement and use a software system based on the communications network, based on managing patient information inside and outside the hospital electronically without using papers.
