Abstract | ||||
Al-Rawda island did not appear with Arab civilization or their construction in Egypt but it dates back to the Roman era. It has many Advantages such as a good climate and it is also surrounded by water from all sides and a lot of Gardens and parks with a number of beautiful trees and the amazing nature. Al-Rawda Island has played a great role in political events since the end of the Ayyubid period, when Al – Nasser Njim Aldin moved from citadel of Cairo to Al-Rawda and establish a new castle for him and his wives and children and also for his new soldiers (mamluks), and continued at the beginning of the Mamluk period in the time of Baybars who rebuild the castle again and wanted to compete it with citadel of Cairo. But soon her role only was limited to the social importance. The island's importance declined after the Mamluk period and its status disappeared. The research aims to highlight on the political and social importance of Al-Rawda island in the Mamluk era, as well as the island's position and status through the ages. | ||||
