Abstract | ||||
This study was carried out at farm of faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University to study the effect of force molting on semen characteristics of Fayoumi and Dandarawi males at 44 and 57 weeks of age. The total number used was 80 cocks (40 from each strain). The cocks were force molted by feed restriction method following Washington program. The results obtained led to the following conclusions : 1- The force molting resulted in an increase in semen volume, sperm concentration, motility and semen pH. 2- Inducing molt at 57 weeks was more effective in the im-provement of semen quality than at 44 weeks of age. 3- The Dandarawi cocks were more responsive for force molting than the Fayoumi. 4- It is possible to improve semen quality by inducing molt at 57 weeks of age. | ||||
