Abstract | ||
Paradox is a linguistic phenomenon that relates to language in many ways, it concerns the structure of language from its sounds, words and compositions. It also concerns the semantic field; it seeks to reveal the meaning or to identify the meaning of the meaning; in addition to knowing the meaning of the speaker/sender's word, as well as related to the context of its various types. It also relates closely to discourse and its different patterns and types; it is an important rhetorical strategy, on which the speaker relies in communicating his message. The paradox is also often associated with textual science, especially when employing the element of dissociation in it. The roots of this linguistic phenomenon have extended far historically, and it also enjoyed mainly mental philosophical origins before it took on a systematic linguistic framework, its genesis was Socratic, and then it moved to rhetorical frameworks in different and varied forms and types, such as problems, class, contrast, and other rhetorical phenomena. It also found a field in semantics through various semantic issues, such as linguistic involvement, contrast, synonym, context, and so on, until paradox took on an independent branched field in modern linguistic and literary studies, and the field of discourse analysis was the most important and most appropriate theoretical pillar, on which the application, analysis and interpretation in the language of paradox is based. | ||
