| Abstract | ||||
| The present paper postulates that satiric comedy is a highly convenient dramatic form that has been deployed by Australian playwrights at large and those emerging at the initiation of Australian drama in the 1970s in particular. The drama of the Australian prominent playwright David Williamson is entirely the main focus of the present study. It starts by highlighting the major historical and social contexts of the country that essentially affected dramatic activity at that time. In addition, literary prospect is extensively explored. Next, a concise definition of the term “satirical comedy” is attempted, accompanied by a brief outline of its main dramatic features and techniques. Finally, Don’s Party is examined and analyzed as one representative drama of such a prevalent genre in the 1970s يتقدم هذا البحث بأطروحة مفادها أن الکوميديا الساخرة من أکثر الأساليب الأدبية التى إستخدمها کُتَّـاب الدراما الأسترالية، لا سيما من ظهر منهم إبان السبعينات؛ تزامنا مع انبثاق الدراما الأسترالية فى أول ظهورلها في السبعينات. تترکز الدراسة فى تناولها لموضوع الکوميديا الساخرة على أعمال ديفيد ويليامسون، کأحد أبرز الکتاب المعاصرين فى هذا المجال. يبدأ البحث بإستعراض الأوضاع السياسية و الاجتماعية فى أستراليا فى تلک الفترة لما لها من تأثير على النشاط الأدبي عامة و المسرحي بصفة خاصة. من النقاط الهامة التي يتناولها البحث بإستفاضة الهوية القومية، الغلو في الوطنية، الاتجاه الذکوري. "الکوميديا الساخرة" من أکثر المصطلحات الأدبية إثارة للجدل عند محاولة تعريفها لما لها من العديد من المعان و الدلالات عند تطويعها للأعمال المسرحية. لذلک، تتناول الدراسة مسرحية حفلة دون کنموذج للأعمال الهامة فى تلک الحقبة. | ||||
