Abstract | ||||
Improving medical waste management has become a challenge for many governments in all countries around the world, especially after the spread of COVID – 19 which had it's negative impact on increasing medical waste generation. The study revealed that in case of Egypt, reducing hazardous medical waste generation could reduce the direct costs that results from disposal of the medical waste from 1.5 Billion EGP to 735.85 million EGP per year. The study has shown that the key to effective management of healthcare waste (HCW) is segregation at point of generation, and increasing awareness of the good practices of healthcare waste management could have positive impact on reducing hazardous medical waste generation. | ||||
