Abstract | ||
This research aims to identify the nature of the interrelationships between literature and other sciences, such as the short story and its integration with medicine, to highlight the extent to which literature is an active integral component that cannot be separated from other sciences, thereby they collectively help to create a wider intellectual space. The narrative discourse of the short story can be considered one of the important sources of interdisciplinary studies, which (these interdisciplinary studies) seem to be a nostalgia for encyclopaedic thought that preceded the era of specialization, and allow an emancipation of knowledge from the rigor of precise specialization. The short story narrative discourse opens the road to reach a realistic knowledge of the natural phenomena, and facilitates a true understanding of the narrative as a whole. Thus, modernizing the discourse of scientific research has become an urgent necessity, where the research process becomes a tool for bridging the gap between the sciences. To achieve this target, three Urdu stories were selected for study and analysis. These are: "Nim Pleet - The Nameplate" by "Tariq Chehtari", the story "Asp, Kesht, Matt - The Horse Died" by "Qamar Ahsan", and the story "Cancer - Cancer" by "Qamar Abbas Nadim". These stories present three different diseases and are considered, collectively, as an indication of the openness of literature to encompass and integrate with the science of medicine, in a manner that enables medicine to transcend the confining boundaries of a single discipline. These interdisciplinary studies boost the interaction among the different sciences based on their relevance to human life. From this interaction literature draws its subjects and ideas. The research has been divided into three sections: First: the story of "Nim Pleet - Nameplate" and Alzheimer's disease, second: the story of "Asp, Kasht, died - The Horse Died" and Covad disease and hypochondriasis, and third: the story of "Cancer-Cancer" and cancer disease. | ||
