| Abstract | ||||
| يتناول هذا البحث وظيفة اللغة في رواية السفراء لهنري جيمس من حيث إسهام الوظائف اللغوية في بناء الرواية بحبكتها وقصتها وأهدافها والشخصيات الفاعلة داخل الرواية وتضافر هذه العناصر في تكوين نسيج واحد يخلص إلي إيصال أهداف الكاتب من حيث الحوار المباشر مع القارئ من خلال ما يعرف بالكوميديا السوداء والتي تتجلي في رحلة البطل لويس لامبرت ستريذر إلي أوروبا لإحضار ابن خطيبته المترملة إلي بيته مرة ثانية وذلك من خلال الرواية بأسلوب المفرد الغائب والتي يتولاها البطل نفسة. This research deals with the function of language in Henry James's novel The Ambassadors in terms of the contribution of linguistic functions to building the novel with its plot, story, objectives, and the active characters within the novel. It is evident in the journey of the hero, Louis Lambert Strether, to Europe to bring the son of his widowed fiancée to his home again, through the novel in the third person singular style, which is handled by the hero himself. | ||||
