Abstract | ||
Background: Nursing documentation is the record of nursing care that is organized and provided to specific patients and clients by licensed nurses or other caregivers acting under a licensed nurse's supervision. Aim: To investigate the effect of quality of nursing documentation on continuity of patient care at Elkharga general hospitals. Study design: Descriptive correlation design was used in this study. Study setting: This study was conducted at Elkharga General Hospital Affiliated to Ministry of Health and Population. Samples: Included two types of samples are convenient sample of nurses working at Elkharga general hospital with total number (no=80) and patient's records and departments records. Data collection: Data was collected using three tools adapted by the researcher1 sttool Quality of nursing documentation questionnaire. 2 nd tool Concurrent auditing checklist for nurse’s records. 3 rdtool continuity of patient care checklist observation. Results: This study indicated that there was a highly statistically significant positive correlation between quality of nursing documentation and continuity of patient care. Conclusion: There was an accepted level of nursing documentation quality, the majority of total nurses samples had an average level of continuity of patient care. Recommendations: Holding a workshop for the nurses on the value of nursing documentation, as well as frequent audits, regular feedback, disciplinary action for defaulters, and rewards for high achievers. | ||
