Abstract | ||||
Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) is a type of cancer develops in the lymphatic tissue. Cytokines are small proteins produced by different immune cells and important in cell signaling . They have Interleukins (ILs) as one of their groups . This study aimed at evaluating the correlation of the interleukins ( IL-6 – IL-8 – TNF –IL-12 A and IL-12B) gene expression levels in peripheral blood with chemotheraputic impact in NHL patients . The most common chemotherapy used for NHL is CHOP, which is a combination of four drugs(Cyclophosphamide, Hydroxydaunorubicin called doxorubicin, Oncovin called vincristine, and Prednisolone) . Twenty adult males and females individuals were obtained from Tanta University Hospital ,Tanta, Egypt were classified into four equal groups (5 individuals each) as follows: Group I: Healthy volunteers. Group II: NHL patients before chemotherapy; Group III: NHL patients after 4 cycles chemotherapy; Group IV: NHL patients after 6 cycles chemotherapy. WBCs were isolated from blood of all groups . Gene expression levels of ( IL-6 – IL-8 – TNF – IL-12A and IL-12B ) were analyzed by Gene Array Technology. The gene expression levels of IL-6 , IL-8 and TNF showed significant increases in patients before chemotherapy and after 4 and 6 cycles chemotherapy than healthy control, however IL-12A gene expression in NHL patients showed no significance change as compared With healthy controls . It could be concluded that NHL increased the expression levels of IL-6 , IL-8 and TNF that chemotherapy alters the expression levels of IL-6 and IL-8 but not TNF. | ||||
