Benefiting Members of the Union of Producers and Exporters of Horticultural Crops from some Extension Recommendations Concerning Potatoes Producing and Marketing in Gharbia Governorate | ||||

Abstract | ||||
This research aimed to determine the degree to which members of the Union of Producers and Exporters of Horticultural Crops from the extension recommendations for potatoes producing and marketing, and to identify the obstacles facing the respondents who are members of the General Union to benefit from its extension role and their suggestions to overcome them, and to identify the nature of the correlation relationship between some of the independent variables of the respondents, which are: Age, educational status, profession, number of years of membership in the union, number of training courses in the field of potato cultivation, and the degree to which they benefit from the extension recommendations provided to them by the General Union related to potato producing and marketing. Data were collected from 245 respondents from potato farmers, members of the General Union, during August 2023, through a personal interview questionnaire with the respondents, and then it was statistically analyzed. Numerical tables, frequencies, percentages, weighted average, Pearson simple correlation coefficient, and chi-square were used in analyzing. The most important results were that: - It became clear from the results that slightly more than three-fifths of the respondents (60.4%) believe that the degree of their benefit from the extension recommendations for potato producing and marketing in general is moderate. - There is a positive correlation at a significant level of 0.05 between the variables of age, the number of years of membership in the union, and the degree to which the respondents benefited from the extension activities provided to them by the General Union related to the producing and marketing of potatoes. The research concluded with a set of recommendations derived from its results. | ||||
