Abstract | ||||
This study compared the ability of Lactobacillus bulgaricus to remove lead from single and mixed metal ion solution. The influence of pH was studied. The adsorption capacity of lead onto Lactobacillus obtained at pH 5.5 was 43.5 mg g−1. The adsorption processes of lead by studied microorganism were evaluated and analyzed using the theories of Langmuir and Freundlich. The maximum metal uptake values were (qmax = 123 mg/g). Biosorption of lead metal ions by Lactobacillus is a promising technology that involves removal of toxic metals from industrial waste streams and natural waters. | ||||
