| Abstract | ||
| Decolorization of sunset yellow dye (SY) in an aqueous solution was investigated by Fenton reaction using H2O2/Fe2+ system. Different parameters controlling the degradation efficiency as pH and H2O2 and Fe2+ concentrations were evaluated. The optimal operational conditions were found to be [Fe2+] = 2.55x10-3 mmol, [H2O2] = 0.2425 mmol at pH 2.7. The study of the Kinetics of decolorization indicated that the degradation kinetics of SY followed the second-order kinetics with (K2 = 4.9x10-4 mgL-1min-1). The results of this study showed high efficiency for removal of SY by Fenton process which is a cheap, versatile and efficient method for removal of this kind of pollutants. | ||
