Abstract | ||||
Background: Newly recognized acute respiratory disorder caused by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infected more than 13 million individuals around the world. Some studies handled the immune response toward COVID-19. However, the lucid picture of immune cells that impact this disease is not fully understood Aim of the work: To measure the frequency of CD3⁺, CD8⁺ for T-cytotoxic, CD3⁺ CD4⁺, CD25⁺ for T-regulatory cells and CD19⁺ B lymphocytes in COVID-19 patients Methods: A total of 20 patients and 20 healthy controls of the same age were included in the study. Patients were recruited at the Clinical Pathology Department and the chest department in Minia university hospital in a one-year duration Results: There was a statistically significant difference between cases and controls in phenotyping. In case group CD3, CD4 and CD25 ranged from 1.8 to 2.8%, CD3 and CD8 ranged from 11.3 to 21.5% and CD19 ranged from 8.3 to 12.8%. Conclusion: COVID-19 infection reduces the percentage of CD3, CD4, CD25, CD8 and CD19 T cells | ||||
