Abstract | ||||
Introduction In an effort to lessen the risk of complications during surgery, mini-PCNL—a diminutive version of the traditional PCNL—was developed. When planning a standard or mini-PCNL, the lithotripter is just as crucial as the operating duration, complication rate and type, SFRs, and cost-effectiveness. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relative merits of laser lithotripsy and pneumatic lithotripsy in mini-PCNL for the treatment of kidney stones in children and adolescents. Patients and methods At our outpatient clinic, there were 52 child fulfilled our criteria and registered in our thesis .patients had been classified into 2 groups: (Group 1) underwent pneumatic lithotripsy (26 cases) and (Group 2) underwent laser lithotripsy (26 cases). All patients were evaluated 1 month postoperatively by: plain X-ray KUB or CT KUB for detection stone free rate Results and Discussion : Cases undergoing Pneumatic lithotripsy had significantly shorter operative time and lithotripsy time compared to those undergoing laser lithotripsy . according to stone-free rates between the two groups, there was no statistically significant differences however stone free rate was slightly higher among cases who had laser lithotripsy than in cases who underwent Pneumatic lithotripsy. | ||||
