Abstract | ||||
Background : Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) in children is a rare disorder that can be dangerous with a variety of etiologies. Aim of the work: Evaluation of the endoscopic findings in children with acute UGIB with determination of different causes. Methods: This study was a prospective cross-sectional which included 50 children visited the gastroenterology clinic at Minia Children University hospital with an UGIB history or presenting by an acute UGIB within the period from December 2022 to December 2023. History taking with adequate analysis of the bleeding were done for all included children. Results : The mean age was 9.8 years with females were predominant and 82% were under weight. There were 24% of cases with history of NSAIDs and 4% with corrosives ingestion. Gastritis and gastric ulcer were the commonest gross findings by endoscopy. Conclusion : Endoscopy is an appreciated instrument in different causes of UGIT bleeding decision . | ||||
