| Abstract | ||
| Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has become the most common chronic liver disease, and its prevalence will likely continue to rise. The presence of MASLD is tightly linked to type 2 diabetes, obesity and other cardiometabolic risk factors. MASLD is a last term used to describe presence of hepatic steatosis along with at least one of five cardiometabolic risk factors that including a body mass index (BMI) more than or equal 25; waist circumference more or equal 94 cm in men and more or equal 80 cm in women; impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance or Hb1Ac more than 5.7%, or type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) or treatment for T2DM; blood pressure more than 130/90 mmgh or antihypertensive treatment, elevated plasma (TG) levels more than 150 mg/dl ; lower plasma high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels less than 40mg/dl; or dyslipidemia. Fatty acid-binding proteins (FABPs) are a family of 15-kDa proteins. Nine different FABPs have been identified and named according to the tissues in which they are found. FABP4can be detected in plasma, and high levels of FABP4 areassociated with metabolic disturbances In a Chinese population, a high baseline concentration of FABP4 was an accurate indicator for development of the metabolic syndrome within a five-year follow-up period.As well as A high level of FABP4 at baseline could independently predict the onset of type 2 diabetes, according to a 10-year prospective study. | ||
