Abstract | ||||
In this research, the short term results of mucosal pyloroplasty as a drainage procedure with truncal vagotomy were investigated in 28 patients with chronic duodenal ulcers indicated for surgery. Cases, investigations and operations were done in Kasr El Aini hospital. Mucosal pyloroplasty is done by suturing the mucosa only and leaving the muscle layer unsutured so that complete muscle relaxation at the pyloric sphincter is achieved allowing adequate drainage from the stomach. There is no mortality in this study. The postoperative complications were minimal. The mean operative time was 78 minutes. We can conclude that mucosal pyloroplasty is simple safe with optimal results and rapid convalescence. We recommend larger prospective studies to properly place this approach as the standard drainage procedure. | ||||
