Abstract | ||||
The current research aims to investigate mindfulness and its relationship to distress tolerance among university students, in addition to examining the differences in research variables of the study based on demographic variables: gender (males-females) and major (scientific-literary). The sample of the study consists of (N= 265) university students from Ain Shams, Cairo, and Helwan University, consisting of (51) males and (214) female students, (123) students from scientific majors, and (142) students from literary majors, with ages ranging from (18 to 25) years old (M= 20.37, SD= 1.71). The tools of the study consisted of Mindfulness scale (prepared by Fowkia Hassan & Nesreen El-Sayed, 2021) and Distress Tolerance scale (prepared by the researcher), employing a descriptive-correlational comparative methodology. The results showed a weak positive non-significant correlation between the scores of university students on mindfulness and distress tolerance scales, and no statistically significant differences among university students in terms of gender (males-females) and major (scientific-literary) on the research variables. | ||||
