Abstract | ||||
The second most common reason for retinal vascular diseases is retinal vein occlusion(RVO).There are two primary forms of RVO:central (CRVO),which affects 0.1%to0.4% of the population,and branch (BRVO),which affects 0.6%to1.2% of the population.Managing RVO and its consequences, involving conservative treatment,medication,and surgery.A new imaging technique;optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) can see microvascular changes in various diseases that other traditional imaging methods miss.It is non-invasive,uses optical coherence tomography, and produces high-resolution,depth-resolved images of the retinal vasculature.OCTA,being a dye-free technology,has the potential to be widely employed in the treatment-related follow-up of various diseases,allowing better prognoses while avoiding the negative consequences of dye injection.We have a higher chance of diagnosing and treating these diseases using OCTA,a new imaging method that is linked to recent therapy possibilities.Intravitreal injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) have recently been the first line for treating macular edema caused by RVO. Objectives:To evaluate the micro vascular changes in eyes with RVO pre&post intra-vitreal 3 successive injections of ranibizumab (Lucentis) Materials and Methods:This Prospective study included 32 patients with unilateral RVO (17 CRVO,15 BRVO).The vascular density of superficial&deep capillary plexus was evaluated using OCTA pre&post intra-vitreal 3 successive injections of ranibizumab (Lucentis). Results:Vascular density of superficial&deep capillary plexus in eyes with RVO showed significant increase after intra-vitreal injection with ranibizumab detected by OCTA. Conclusion:RVO causing low vascular density in affected eyes.Anti VEGF injection leading to significant increase in vascular density detected by OCTA which can be used frequently in follow up patients as dye free technique avoiding complications of dye injection. | ||||
