Abstract | ||||
The aim of the research was to study the relationship between quality of life and the Big Five personality factors (neuroticism, extroversion, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness) and early divorce in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. To achieve this goal, the researcher used the descriptive comparative correlational approach. The study sample consisted of a number of people from the cities of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, and a number of experts and specialists in the field of family, psychology and sociology. The study tools consisted of a questionnaire about the causes of early divorce from the point of view of experts and specialists prepared by the researcher, a quality-of-life scale prepared by the researcher, and a scale of the Big Five personality factors by Costa and McCrae of the De Bono Center for Teaching Thinking. The results showed a statistically significant negative correlation between early divorce and quality of life. While there is no statistically significant correlation between early divorce and the Big Five factors and there are statistically significant differences in the occurrence of early divorce according to the variables (monthly income of the family before divorce - age at marriage) and there are no statistically significant differences in the occurrence of early divorce according to the variables (educational qualification, duration of marriage). The study recommended the need to educate, and guide married couples about the nature of the marital relationship and develop their communication skills. | ||||
