Abstract | ||||
Novel non-ionic Gemini surfactants derived from natural sources,namely di-octadecanoate (GS stearate) is Gemini nonionic surfactant synthesized from stearic acid by reaction with poly ethylene glycol to forming ester compound then prepared ester reacted with 1,2 di bromo ethane to form Gemini nonionic surfactant. Low surface tension and critical micelle concentration (CMC) values of these surfactants suggested that they possessed surface-active characteristics. GS stearate's notable effectiveness indicates that it has the potential to be a surfactant for a variety of uses. The values of surface area per molecule (Amin) and surface excess (Γmax) that are obtained from calculations provide important insights into the adsorption properties of surfactant molecules at the interface between air and water. FT-IR and 1HNMR spectrum studies were used to confirm this. Surface characteristics of prepared compound were discussed such as surface tension and critical micelle concentration (CMC). The anti-corrosion properties of these novel surfactants were studied and the results showed good anti-corrosion properties. | ||||
