Abstract | ||||
This study aimed to study the effect of combine uses of acetylsalicylic acid with omeprazole on the histopathological and histomorphometrical structures of liver and kidney tissues in male Swiss albino mice. Forty male Swiss albino mice were randomly divided into four groups: control group; salicylic treated group; omeprazole treated group and salicylic-omeprazole treated group. Histopathological and histomorphometrical studies were carried. Combined administration of acetylsalicylic acid with omeprazole resulted in several histopathological lesions and histomorphometrical alterations in liver and kidney tissues as revealed by light microscopic examinations compared to salicylic / or omeprazole treated group. Meanwhile, severe dilated congested blood vessels, severe aggregation of inflammatory cells, scattered severe vacuolization hepatocyte with pyknotic nucleus were shown in the liver tissues of salicylic-omeprazole treated group. In addition to, histomorphometrical analysis showed that consuming of both acetylsalicylic acid and omeprazole resulted in a significant decrease in both corpuscle area and glomerulus area and induced a significant increase in the ratio of corpuscle area/glomerulus in the kidney tissues. Conclusions: Combined uses of acetylsalicylic acid with omeprazole resulted in histopathological and histomorphometrical changes in the Meanwhile, severe dilated congested blood vessels, severe aggregation of inflammatory cells, scattered severe vacuolization hepatocyte with pyknotic nucleus were shown in the liver tissues of salicylic-omeprazole treated group. . We recommended not uses acetylsalicylic acid combined with omeprazole. | ||||
