Abstract | ||||
ISO 9001 is a management philosophy that was adopted by nearly a million organizations in more than one hundred countries since it was introduced in the year 1987, it is an effective quality approach used to integrate organization functions to help meeting customer expectations and achieving the organization quality goals. ISO 9001 is one of the most applied and well accepted approach between the contemporary quality approaches such as TQM, Lean, and Six Sigma. In the last three decades a large number of product and service industries had realized the great importance of implementing ISO 9001 standard in the maintaining of a sustainable competitive advantage in a rapidly changing competitive environment. Yet, a great number of product /service organizations are facing troubles in dealing with the ISO 9001 standard, one of the most significant reasons for this dilemma is the lack of necessary guidance for an efficient and effective implementation of the ISO 9001 certificate. The aim of this research was to develop a conceptual frame work of ISO 9001 drivers that would help managers, decision makers, and quality practitioners in better understanding the certificate, a how to successfully activate it. Also this framework was to be used for examining the impact of implementing the selected ISO 9001 drivers on the performance of logistics functions particularly in context with Egyptian seaports sector, the balanced Score Card was used here as a performance indicator.
