Background: Health policies are integral in shaping the integration of public health and family medicine, providing a framework for improving healthcare administration. Policies created by governmental bodies are essential in guiding actions and setting standards, impacting both public and private sectors. Effective health policies are grounded in principles that ensure equity, evidence-based practices, and efficient implementation, which are crucial for improving healthcare outcomes and addressing health disparities. Aim: This article explores the impact of health policies on the integration of public health and family medicine within healthcare systems, focusing on how policy formulation can enhance the effectiveness of these services. Methods: The article reviews various public health policies, including their guiding principles such as evidence-based decision-making, prioritizing health equity, and ensuring practical implementation. It examines real-world examples of policies like Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) and the role of multisector collaboration in public health policy development. Results: The integration of public health and family medicine has been positively influenced by well-designed policies that emphasize evidence-based strategies and health equity. Policies such as the legalization of safe consumption spaces and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have demonstrated the practical application of health equity principles and their role in improving public health outcomes. Conclusion: Health policies play a crucial role in promoting the integration of public health and family medicine.
