Abstract | ||||
The research studies and analyzes the Affect of dialects in written Arabic documents recorded in the registers of Assiut Sharia Court in the Ottoman period, to know the extent to which dialects appear in the context of writing documents, by using Sharia court writers some words indicating the dialect used in Upper Egypt, especially Assiut. This is done by defining the language in general and the classical language, the colloquial language, and the dialect in particular, and clarifying the relationship between them. Preparing a glossary of words that indicate the use of dialect in writing the research sample documents, defining each word included in the glossary, and citing examples from the research sample documents. The study relied on the descriptive analytical method, to analyze the words used in writing Arabic documents recorded in the registers of Assiut Sharia Court in the Ottoman period using the content analysis tool, along with a group of other tools, such as: - Personal communication, and relying on the registers of Assiut Sharia Court kept in the National Archives, while relying on sources and references. The study reached a set of results, the most important of which is the effect of dialect in writing of the documents sampled in the research. The study recommended preparing more linguistic studies of documents preserved in archives and various preservation institutions and shared by linguistics specialists. | ||||
