Abstract | ||||
Historical areas of architectural value are considered a national wealth that must be preserved and managed in a way that ensures their sustainability for future generations as a distinct historical and urban value throughout the ages. They highlight the value of human civilization to society as they are considered an open museum that connects contemporary generations with their historical roots. The development of historical areas requires subjecting them to specific methodologies that achieve development dimensions for each of the environmental, social, economic and urban aspects in accordance with the current and future requirements of each area and in a way that works to find solutions to the problems that each of these historical areas suffers from. As part of the Egyptian state’s endeavor to preserve its distinctive architectural and urban heritage, it has placed many of these areas at the center of its attention, seeking to develop them and remove the effects of neglect and randomness that befell them. From this standpoint, the research paper aims to study and evaluate one of the urban revitalization projects in historic Cairo that is being developed in order to determine the positives and negatives in terms of the extent to which it follows the development methodology and achieves sustainable development dimensions in all of the environmental, social, economic and urban aspects, and accordingly, the urban revitalization project for Historic Cairo was chosen, which the Council of Ministers agreed to consider as a national project by Resolution No. 39 of 2021. | ||||
