Abstract | ||||
ABSTRACT:A major factor altering fetal renal development intrauterine is fetal growth restriction (FGR).Diminished blood circulatory flow to the kidneys because of fetal hypoxia in FGR fetus causes elevated pulsatile index which could be liable for inadequate fetal renal development as well as diminished renal volume. GOALS AS WELL AS AIM:To assess whether fetal renal artery doppler could alter fetal kidney volume in average growth as well as growth restricted fetuses from 32 to 37 gestational weeks or not. STUDY DESIGN AS WELL AS SETTING:prospective study implemented in the obstetrics and gynecology department, Faculty of medicine,Minia university,Egypt.PATIENTS AS WELL AS METHODS:Total 200 patients,which accepted to be included 100 healthy fetuses as well as 100 growth restricted fetuses were involved in this study.The volume of single fetal kidney as well as combined renal volume were settled using 4-dimensional sonography for average growth as well as FGR fetuses. Fetal renal artery parameters especially renal artery pulsatile index was settled for both groups. RESULTS: Combined renal volume was considerably diminished in growth restricted fetuses than healthy fetuses i.e.,mean combined renal volume for normal fetuses was 26.9cc as well as for growth restricted fetuses was 18.6cc.Most of the biometric indices of the fetus were positively correlated with the combined renal volume. Elevated pulsatile index was recognized in growth restricted fetuses i.e.,1.8±0.3 while for normal fetuses was 1.1±0.4 OUTCOME: Elevated fetal renal artery pulsatile index in growth restricted fetuses is negatively correlated with kidney volume leading to renal hypoperfusion as well as inadequate fetal renal development. | ||||
