Abstract | ||
Some Hawaiian bananas infected with BBTD gave a positive reaction using DAS-ELISA and Dot-Blot, a digoxigenin-labeled DNA probe. However, DAS-ELISA was more sensitive with diluted crude sap than the digoxigenin-labeled DNA probe (Dot-Blot), but both assays were similar at a 1/5 dilution of infected banana sap in all cases. Therefore, a digoxigenin-labeled DNA probe could be used alongside DAS-ELISA for routine diagnosis of BBTV in suspicious banana tissue for phytosanitary purposes. | ||
