Abstract | ||||
The concept of smart cities represents one of the main pillars in contemporary urban development strategies. These cities aim to systematically integrate technological advancements to stimulate economic growth, enhance environmental sustainability, and improve the quality of life for communities. Smart cities are characterized by the integration of digital infrastructure and reliance on information and communication technologies to provide innovative solutions to daily challenges and meet the needs of citizens in ways that contribute to advanced and inclusive living standards. This research aims to study the impact of smart cities on future urban planning by analyzing their intrinsic characteristics, including their definition, core components, levels of development, and smart communication pillars that support their operational framework. The research also reviews standard indicators used to evaluate the performance of smart cities and explores strategies for transitioning to this modern urban model through the adoption of innovative smart applications. Additionally, the research examines local and global models of smart city applications, analyzing the impact of these experiences on the design of future cities and their transformation into urban environments based on advanced technologies. This contributes to the formulation of a comprehensive scientific vision for the development of smart cities. | ||||
