Abstract | ||||
Antioxidative, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, anti-gastric ulcer, antibacterial, and antitumor properties have been identified in numerous investigations on Azadirachta indica. This study assesses how Azadirachta indica aqueous extract powder affects the lipid profile, antioxidant enzymes, and liver enzymes in Albino rats with liver damage. Twenty-four (24) rats, each weighing 150±10 g, were divided into four groups. As a control negative, group (1) negative group (-Ve) is given merely a baseline diet. As a control positive, group (2) positive group (+Ve) was given a baseline diet following a CCl4 injection. Groups treated with CCl4 for liver problems were further separated into: group (3) was given a basal diet in addition to 5% powdered aqueous extract. Group (4) was given a 10% aqueous extract powder in addition to their basic diet.Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) was significantly (P<0.05) reduced and AST, ALT, ALP, total bilirubin, and MDA were significantly (P<0.05) raised by CCl4 injection (positive control group) in comparison to the negative control group. Additionally, it showed that adding aqueous extract to the meal reduced these negative effects and significantly improved the biochemical changes brought on by the injection of CCl4. | ||||
