| As global energy needs increase and environmental issues become more pressing, the search for efficient and sustainable cooling technologies is essential. Evaporative cooling emerges as a promising solution, offering significant reductions in both energy consumption and environmental impact. Because of the shortage of studies regarding widespread application of Direct Evaporative Cooler (DEC) in Egypt, this study systematically evaluates a (DEC) for application in various Egyptian cities under different conditions to determine its ability to achieve thermal comfort. A mathematical model accounting for heat and mass transfer within the DEC was developed, with differential equations solved using MATLAB. Validation of the model showed a maximum error of 2.82% when compared to experimental data from existing literature. The study used average summertime weather data, including relative humidity and temperature for each city, over the past two years. Additionally, the system was tested under varying the air changes per hour (ACH) from 5 to 15 and cooling loads from 1 to 5 kW. The findings showed that DEC is suitable when operating with an ACH = 5, 10, 15 and a cooling load of 1 kW for 7, 7, and 8 cities, respectively. However, for higher cooling load, it’s revealed that the DEC is not recommended in certain cities. as it fails to maintain air room conditions within the thermal comfort zone. Overall, the study underscores the potential of DEC systems in specific climatic conditions and highlights their limitations for higher cooling loads. | ||||
