Abstract | ||||
Computer Aided/ Assisted Translation (CAT) softwares play a crucial role in translation, in addition, translators as well as freelancers have extensively used CAT tools. Certainly, a large number of students still has no sufficient background about CAT tools and about its usage. In this context, the study investigates the problem of learning how to use CAT tools. This study aims at examining the linguistic and technical issues that the selected students face while translating some selected legal texts by using SDL Trados Studio. Therefore, the analysis of the study consists of two main parts, the linguistic part that includes syntactic, lexical, grammatical and layout issues and the technical part that provides some technical issues. The selected university students should have at least two or more courses related to CAT tools. On the other hand, they should have a background about legal translation. However, in order to achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher adopted a quantitative and qualitative analytical method. Linguistic and technical questionnaires are applied to obtain the required data from English translation program students (the participants). Lastly, the findings will be analysed and concluded in which state the issues that the students encounter during applying the process. | ||||
