Abstract | ||||
This study investigates the effect of post-activation potentiation (PAP) using the French Contrast Method (FCM) on biomechanical variables during the release phase and the record level of shot put athletes. The research follows an experimental approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The training program was applied over eight weeks to six athletes registered in the Egyptian Athletics Federation at the New Damietta City stadium, with four weekly sessions, each lasting 120 minutes. The program incorporated maximal strength training, specific plyometric exercises, strength training for maximal power, and assisted plyometric exercises to enhance performance. The results showed significant improvements in specific physical abilities, with an 8.52% increase in maximal strength of leg extensors and 3.82% improvement in vertical jump from a static position. Additionally, enhancements were observed in biomechanical variables during the release phase, with a 27.06% increase in acceleration at release and a 1.26% rise in release height. These improvements contributed to a 6.60% increase in the athletes' record level. The findings highlight the effectiveness of PAP with FCM in enhancing physical and biomechanical performance in shot put athletes, suggesting its application in training programs to optimize competitive performance. | ||||
