| Abstract | ||||
| Abstract Background: The lifestyle of a woman may impact her breastfeeding. Changes in lifestyle can result from the normal move from labor to postpartum. which influenced the mother’s physical and mental health and may threaten the quality of life. social support and physical health would improve a health lifestyle in postpartum women and improve breastfeeding. This study aimed to study the physical and social life style among lactating mothers. Study design: A cross-sectional descriptive study design was utilized. Setting: The study was carried out at Bani Ebeid Health Office and Pediatric Outpatient Clinic at Bani Ebeid Specialized Hospital. Study subjects: A purposive sample of 307 lactating mothers. Tools: Two instruments were utilized to gather data. A questionnaire for a structured interview and Life Style Questionnaire for measuring physical and social health. Results: 65.5% of the lactating mothers were cesarean section, nearly 50% of them experienced postpartum complications such mastitis and DVT, nearly 25% of them had no postpartum follow up, 61.6% of them never had exercise program and nearly 50% of them had no family or social support. Conclusion: Slightly greater than two third of the lactating mothers had inappropriate lifestyle regarding physical health, and nearly two third of them had inappropriate lifestyle in regards to social health so the study's findings draw attention to the improving life style to improve the health of lactating mothers. Recommendations: Improving lactating mothers `s awareness regarding the importance of going to the doctor for checkup. | ||||
