Abstract | ||||
Introduction: The esthetic shade of lithium disilicate glass ceramic could be influenced by the gray color of titanium. Using different translucencies of luting cements could be effective in masking the dark titanium substrate. Aim of the study: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of opaque and translucent shades of resin cements on the color of lithium disilicate glass ceramic restoration bonded to titanium background. Materials and methods: 20 titanium alloy specimens were prepared with dimensions of 12.5 × 12.5 mm and a thickness of 2.0 mm. Additionally, 20 lithium disilicate glass-ceramic specimens with low-translucency were prepared with the same dimensions (12.5 × 12.5 mm) and a different thickness of 1.0 mm. Ceramic samples were bonded to titanium samples using either opaque or translucent dual-polymerized resin cement (n=10). A four-mm thick lithium disilicate block was used as a reference for color difference measurements. Color measurements were performed using a vita easy shade spectrophotometer, and color differences (ΔE) were calculated. statistical difference was performed using independent samples t-test. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between the mean values of opaque and translucent cement groups. Using opaque cement decreased the ΔE value. | ||||
