Abstract | ||||
Dengue fever is a viral infectious disease transmitted by mosquitoes and endemic in many tropical and subtropical countries as Maldives causing one of the common health problems there. Dengue fever may be asymptomatic in the majority of cases, but it may be presented by a life-threatening hemorrhagic fever. Maldives is a touristic tropical Asian country that receives a large number of tourists annually from many countries all over the world. Preventive measures for dengue fever in Maldives is relatively defective and need to be improved and more restricted for better prevention and overcoming of this endemic health problem in such like this famous touristic country. This review article is discussing the basics of dengue fever and the recommendations for better prevention of it in this country, aiming to overcome this endemic health problem there, as the branch of Infection Prevention and Control in Maldives is generally defective and requires a greater number of well-trained personnel to improve the current health services. | ||||
