Abstract
Background: The most prevalent type of cancer in males is prostate cancer, with bone being the most common location of metastases.
Objectives: to examine the connotation among serum prostate-specific antigen  levels and the pathological grade and size of the prostate in individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Patients and methods: This retrospective research was performed at Qena university hospital. Thirty men with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of prostate cancer were enrolled in the research. PSA was assessed for each patient via biochemical assay in serum and prostate size was assessed using transrectal ultrasound, The duration of the research varied among six and twelve months.
Results: Serum Prostate-Specific Antigen Level has statistically significant positive correlation with Size of prostate cancer and Gleason score .Serum Prostate-Specific Antigen Level was statistically significantly higher in metastatic cases than those with no metastasis. However no significant association was detected between Prostate-Specific Antigen Level and cancer histopathology.
Conclusion: Serum Prostate-Specific Antigen Level was statistically significantly higher in metastatic cases than those with no metastasis and in grade 3,4 prostate size than grade 1,2 and in stage T2,3 than stage 1c. However, no significant association was detected between Prostate-Specific Antigen Level and cancer histopathology. Serum Prostate-Specific Antigen Level has statistically significant positive correlation with Size of prostate cancer and Gleason score.
