Abstract | ||||
OBJECTIVE: In vitro evaluation of the effect of teeth whitening light activated systems on mineral content of human tooth structure Materials and methods: The labial surfaces of human dark fourteen anterior intact extracted teeth were measured by EDX to detect mineral content then randomly divided into 2 groups (n= 7) according to the tested whitening agents Group I: Blue covarine containing whitening toothpaste, close up white now toothpaste, was applied on specimens while Group II: Actilux-activated whitening toothpaste, BLANX® white shock toothpaste, was applied on specimens. Then all specimens were measured by EDX to detect mineral content. Results: All data was collected and statistically analyzed. Independent t Test (t): for comparison between 2 independent groups (Group 1, 2) regarding parametric quantitative variables. Paired t Test: for comparison between 2 dependent periods (Each group at baseline and after 6 weeks) regarding parametric quantitative variables. It was concluded that fluoride content was affected significantly by the whitening systems in the 2 tested groups. A significant difference with p values of 0.044*, 0.011* were recorded for groups I and II respectively. | ||||
