Abstract | ||||
Abstract Introduction Injury of the DLM (Discoid Lateral Meniscus) is common because of its morphology and structure. The recommended treatment for symptomatic individuals with discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) is to reshape the meniscus with or without repairing it. This study compares between patients with symptomatic DLM who treated by repair without saucerization, and patients treated by repair with saucerization. Patient and methods: Prospective comparative study of 40 patients with discoid lateral meniscus divided in two groups using simple randomization (coin method), group A 20 patients with discoid lateral meniscal repair with saucerization and group B 20 patients with discoid lateral meniscal repair without saucerization. Results This was a prospective comparative study of 40 patients with discoid lateral meniscus 23 patients were male while17 were female. According to the side 24 patients had DLM right knee and the remaining16 patients were DLM left knee, the median age in group A is 14 with range between 11 to 16.5 and the median age in group B is 15 with range between 13 to 16.5. Conclusion Arthroscopic repair with or without Saucerization of symptomatic unstable discoid lateral meniscus in children and adolescents has better results and outcomes than saucerization only. Arthroscopic repair without Saucerization has the same results as arthroscopic repair with Saucerization. Keywords: Discoid, Lateral Meniscal, Repair, Saucerization | ||||
