Abstract | ||||
This study aims to clarify the correlational relationships between social problems and the mental image of nuclear and radiological facilities. The problem of the study is to discover and measure the mental image of nuclear and radiological facilities and the extent of the local community’s acceptance of nuclear and radiological facilities and to uncover social problems. The importance of this study came from its attempts to investigate the mental image of nuclear and radiological facilities, to evaluate risks and problems, and these risk factors can serve as basic data for risk management to avoid them in future projects, as managers can benefit from them in knowing the types of needs of workers and users and their impact. Acceptance of the local community. There are also social problems created by the mental image through the media and social networking sites that work to increase or decrease societal acceptance of radiation application technology. Therefore, it was necessary for specialists to clarify the risks of radiation technology and how to avoid these risks, as well as its benefits and how to benefit from it. The researchers designed a mental image scale, where the scale phrases combine the value similarity model (benefits) and the risk acceptance model under the traditional trust model. The validity, stability and internal homogeneity of the scale were verified, and a diverse random sample was selected from the local community. In a case study to demonstrate the mental image and acceptability of nuclear facilities, Descriptive and statistical analysis methods were used to clarify this and find the correlation coefficient between the research variables. The results showed that the greater the positive cognitive and emotional informational aspects, the greater the degree of mental image in the positive, and the less social problems (inverse relationship), as the value of the correlation coefficient reached (-0.527), Whenever there is a negative mental image of the research topic, the social problems increase, and with the presence of a positive mental image, acceptance increases (a direct relationship), as the value of the correlation coefficient reached (0.926). With the presence of an increase in social problems, acceptance decreases (an inverse relationship), as the value of the correlation coefficient reached (-0.719). | ||||
