| Abstract | ||||
| Jürgen Habermas, one of the prominent sociologists, political theorists, and philosophers in our contemporary world, devoted much of his ideas to analyzing social actions. He views modernity as an incomplete project, with its alternative being communicative reason. Communicative action, according to him, is critical, philosophical, linguistic, and political, relying on moral and rational dialogue within a free public sphere. It is based on a communicative concept of language, where mental imagery plays a key role in creative thinking, imagination, and intellectual experimentation. The research problem focuses on aligning Habermas' theory of communicative action with the language of moving images as a communicative tool contributing to mutual understanding. The research aims to explore the potential application of communicative action theory to the language of moving images and its contribution to achieving communicative action according to Habermas' theory. The hypothesis suggests a complementary relationship between communicative action theory and the language of moving images in fostering mutual understanding. The research uses a descriptive approach to analyze and apply Habermas' theory to the language of moving images. The findings show an integrative relationship between communicative action theory and the language of moving images in establishing mutual understanding. The interaction between images, perception, emotions, and the mental state of the viewer facilitates communicative rationality, fulfilling the communicative dimension in Habermas’ concept of communicative rationality. | ||||
