Abstract | ||
Background: Endometriosis is a well-known chronic gynecological condition persistent that causing pelvic pain, painful menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea), and difficulties with fertility. Aim: Assess perception of female nursing students regarding endometriosis Design: A descriptive study design was utilized. Setting: The study was conducted at Benha Faculty of Nursing, Benha city, Qalioubia Governorate. Subjects: A convenient sample of 300 female nursing students was included. Tools of data collection: Three tools were used: (I) A structured self-administered questionnaire, (II) Student's knowledge assessment sheet regarding endometriosis. (III): Modified Likert attitude scale regarding endometriosis. Results: More than one third of the studied female nursing students had poor knowledge regarding endometriosis, more than half of female nursing students had total negative attitude regarding endometriosis. Conclusion: About one fifth of studied sample had good knowledge regarding endometriosis, more than one third of the studied female nursing students had positive attitude about endometriosis, finally, there was a highly statistically significant positive correlation between total knowledge and total attitudes scores among studied female nursing students p ≤ 0.001. Recommendation: Conducting health education programs, seminars, simulation and counseling regarding endometriosis for female students in secondary school and universities. | ||
