Abstract | ||||
Abstract Introduction: Calprotectin plays a crucial role in the body's inflammatory response. It serves as a biomarker for inflammation and autoimmune conditions, including dermatological diseases. Aim of the study: To assess the relation between Calprotectin levels and the development of different dermatological diseases. Subjects and Methods: We searched Cochrane, Web of Science, PubMed, and SCOPUS for relevant articles. We utilized a strategy for our search by combining these keywords: (‘’ Calprotectin ’’) AND (‘’ psoriasis ‘’ OR ‘’ systematic Lupus Erythematosus ‘’ OR ‘’ Alopecia Areata ‘’ OR ‘’ dermatological diseases ‘’). Quality evaluation of the involved studies was assessed regarding to Cochrane’s risk of bias tool. Results: we found that the levels calprotectin affected by different skin diseases as individuals suffering from systematic lupus erythematosus, atopic dermatitis, and psoriasis showed substantially higher levels of Calprotectin than healthy participants. Conclusions: Calprotectin has major role in pathogenesis of several skin diseases. Also, it has a diagnostic and therapeutic value in many skin diseases. | ||||
