Abstract | ||||
Management of Egyptian cotton towards increased productivity was investigated by conducting several fertilization and pest control regimes. The aim was to provide cotton with good health in order to enhance its natural resistance to pest infestation and modify the present pest control program as to include effective novel compounds against pests. The results revealed that at planting it is preferable that cotton seeds are mixed with Gaucho or side dressed with Temik. Temik followed by Gaucho contributed significantly to the robust growth of the plants and reduction of cotton pests, thereby increasing cotton yield. Calcium super phosphate and organic manure are to be added before planting followed by nitrogen fertilizer in two equal doses. One after thinning and the other after the second irrigation. At the peak of square formation, a foliar fertilizer including macro and micro elements is applied to ensure the fulfillment of plant nutritional requirements. The present work has also dealt with several new pest control regimes towards better cotton pest management, and their relation with complete fertilization of cotton throughout its developmental growth in order to achieve increased productivity. | ||||
